Help Student Partners In Learning Today

Spilus is a non-profit organization 501(c)(3). In 2023, Spilus leveraged the research and development technology and experience of its parent company, IvyGoal Education Co. and became a dedicated institution focusing on the development of "English Bible Study Courseware" specifically for Chinese students.

In January 2013, IvyGoal Education Co. established Spilus (Student Partners In Learning), a non-profit organization 501(c)(3). Over the years, Spilus has provided tutoring and assistance to many homeless and economically disadvantaged students. For the past decade, especially during the three-year period of the pandemic, we have consistently provided free online tutoring to many Chinese immigrants for English language learning.

From its inception, IvyGoal Education Co. has been positioned as a research-oriented and technology-driven educational institution. Fifteen years ago, Principal Nick and education experts in the Bay Area formed a team and established IvyGoal Education Co. Over more than a decade, they solely devoted their efforts to this endeavor, investing significant human and material resources in developing a comprehensive set of English courseware tailored to Chinese learners from grades 1 to 12, covering elementary, middle, and high school levels. With the application of the "natural repetition learning method," IvyGoal's courseware makes learning easy for students without the need for rote memorization. With over 40 textbooks developed, we have achieved fruitful results, helping numerous Chinese new immigrants effectively overcome language barriers.

In January 2023, the original and independently developed English as a Second Language (ESL) teaching courseware developed by ivy Goal Education Co. received authoritative accreditation from WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) of the U.S. Department of Education, making it the only certified English training institution in North America: The courseware allows students to advance one grade level in just 40 hours, with the potential to improve four grade levels within a year; 90% of students can move out of ELD (English as a Second Language) classes within a year and surpass the level of native English speakers within two years. Led by Teacher Vincent Xiong, with oversight and revisions from IvyGoal's senior American teacher and Principal Nick, this collaborative effort ensures that the courseware benefits from IvyGoal's expertise and meets high standards.

The future goal of Spilus for the next 5-10 years is to focus on developing a set of "English Bible Study Courseware" suitable for Chinese immigrant students, covering all grades from elementary to high school (grades 1-12). The courseware incorporates vocabulary corresponding to each grade level, utilizing the natural repetition learning method with frequent repetition to facilitate long-term memory retention. The courseware will make the Bible content accessible, understandable, and memorable, while preserving the core truths of the Bible. Integrated into every grade level, the courseware will enable Chinese new immigrant students and adults to understand Christian culture through simple and understandable English Bible study materials.

For Chinese new immigrant students, especially those at English proficiency levels 1-5, the difficulty level of English words in the "English Bible Study Courseware" must be appropriate for their respective grades. We study how to simplify and narrate the content of the Bible, adapting the vocabulary of the study materials to the corresponding grade levels, and ensure constant repetition of words. For lower grades, the courseware will be bilingual in English and Chinese, while for higher grades (grades 6-12), it will be in English only. We make it easy for students to read and understand, thereby efficiently improving their reading ability.

The "English Bible Study Courseware" developed by Spilus enables Chinese youth, especially overseas Chinese new immigrant youth and adults, to understand Christian culture and ideas. This understanding allows them to comprehend European and American cultural concepts better, aiding their integration into American society. Through continuous teaching and learning, we hope to change the cultural and ideological perspectives of Chinese people, instilling in Chinese youth the cultural genes of "loving others as oneself" and "forgiveness." We aim to nurture devout descendants who fear and obey the Lord, preparing them to become believers with Christian faith.

This set of "English Bible Study Courseware" will be provided free of charge to students and adults studying at IvyGoal English training institutions. Additionally, it will be offered to churches and missionary organizations worldwide as bilingual or English-only Bible study materials, facilitating the teaching of Sunday school to youth.

Over the next five years, Spilus, in cooperation with ivyGoal English training institutions, will continue to provide English Bible study courses (bilingual English/Chinese teaching for lower grades), Christian cultural courses, and free English courses to Chinese new immigrant students and adults. Furthermore, we will provide language and free psychological counseling services to disadvantaged youth, assisting Chinese new immigrant youth and adults in integrating into American society with care and support.
