Help Student Partners In Learning Today
Student Partners In Learning US (Spilus) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. In 2024, Spilus will leverage the many years of research and development experience and technology from its affiliated company, IvyGoal Education Co., to become a research institution mainly focused on developing "English Bible Course" for Chinese students. Spilus is dedicated to the research, development, and dissemination of "English Bible Course" for Chinese students.
Student Partners In Learning US (Spilus), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was established in January 2013. For over a decade, under the leadership of Chairman Nick, we have provided tutoring and assistance to many homeless and underprivileged students. During the three years of the pandemic, we continued to offer free online tutoring for many Chinese immigrants learning English.
The affiliate company of Spilus, ivyGoal Education Co., was founded as a research-focused technology education institution. Fifteen years ago, Principal Nick and education experts from the Bay Area formed a team and established ivyGoal Education Co., focusing on developing English learning courseware tailored for Chinese learners. Over the years, they dedicated significant resources to create a comprehensive set of English course software for grades 1-12, wrote over 40 textbooks, and achieved substantial results, helping numerous Chinese immigrants quickly and efficiently overcome language barriers. The courseware, designed specifically for Chinese learners, employs the "Natural Repetition Learning Method," making learning effortless without the need for rote memorization.
In January 2023, Ivy Goal Education Co., an affiliated company, received authoritative certification from WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) under the U.S. Department of Education for its uniquely developed English teaching courseware tailored to Chinese learners. It is the only certified English training institution in North America:
- Students can advance a grade level in just 40 hours, improve by four grade levels in one year.
- 90% of students can exit the ELD (English Language Development) program within one year and surpass native English speakers' levels within two years.
The non-profit organization Spilus leverages the research and development technology and experience of its affiliated company IvyGoal Education Co. ,for the development and production of "English Bible Course." The project is creatively and strategically designed by Nick Ni, the principal of IvyGoal Education Co. In collaboration with the America Chinese Evangelical Seminary (ACES), the seminary's professors ensure the accuracy and theological depth of the content. Scholars with a background in both Chinese and English Bible studies execute and write the materials. Senior American teachers from IvyGoal and other institutions jointly review and revise the materials.
Over the next 5-10 years, Spilus aims to focus on developing a comprehensive set of "English Bible Course" suitable for Chinese immigrant students from elementary to high school (grades 1-12). This courseware will integrate grade-level vocabulary into Bible studies, using a natural repetition learning method with simple and understandable English vocabulary, ensuring repeated exposure for long-term memory retention. Students won't need to memorize vocabulary intentionally; their vocabulary and reading levels will naturally improve through reading, exercises, and writing. The Bible course will be simple and easy to understand while retaining the core truths of the Bible, integrating education with each grade level, and helping Chinese immigrant students and adults learn about Christian culture through accessible the "English Bible Course" .
For Chinese immigrant students, particularly those at the English proficiency levels of grades 1-5, the vocabulary in reading materials should not be too difficult. The "English Bible Course" should be adapted to the appropriate grade level, breaking down Bible content into detailed, story-like, and simplified forms. The difficulty of vocabulary in the courseware should match the corresponding grade level, with continuous repetition. We will undertake extensive and meticulous research and development. The lower grades will use bilingual English and Chinese forms, while grades 6-12 will use English only, with vocabulary difficulty matching the respective grade levels, making it easy for students to read and understand, thereby improving their reading skills efficiently.
The "English Bible Course" developed by Spilus will help Chinese youth, especially overseas Chinese immigrant youth and adults, understand Christian culture and ideology through this courseware, thus gaining insight into Western cultural concepts and better integrating into American society. Through continuous teaching and learning, we hope to change the cultural and ideological perspectives of Chinese people, instilling the cultural genes of "loving others as oneself" and "forgiveness" in Chinese youth, cultivating a pious generation, and preparing them to become believers in Christ.
This set of "English Bible Course"(bilingual for grades 1-5 and English-only for grades 6-12) developed by Spilus will be provided to students and adults at ivyGoal Education Co. and other English training institutions for reading and learning. It will also be offered to Chinese churches and missionary organizations in the United States and China to support the development of youth Bible Sunday schools.
Spilus will provide various services, including English learning, Bible study, and tutoring in various subjects, to students at ivyGoal Education Co. and other English training institutions. Additionally, we will offer free language, various subjects, and psychological counseling services to disadvantaged youth.
In the next five years, Spilus, in collaboration with ivyGoal English Training Institutions, will continue to provide Chinese immigrant students and adults with“ English Bible Course“ (bilingual for grades 1-5 and English-only for grades 6-12), “Christian Culture Course“, and “Free English Courses“. We aim to support Chinese immigrant youth and adults in better integrating into American life, study, and work with care and assistance.
